[MSI] Edit permissions (registry)ΒΆ

Manage permissions of registry keys in the MSI package.

Note

Permissions will be propagated using SecEdit.

Important

Precondition: Open an MSI package in MSI Editor (see Open MSI/MST).

  1. Go to the Package Designer > Registry tab.

  2. To set new permissions for a registry key:
    1. Select Edit from the context menu of a key, permissions of which you need to edit.

    2. Go to the Permissions tab.

    3. Tick the Enable permission changes checkbox and click Add to add a group or SID, for which you want to set permissions.

    4. Select a group from the list or enter SID manually and then click Add.

    5. Select the necessary access rights and click Save.

  3. To remove the existing permissions from a registry key:
    1. (Optional) Apply the Hide items without permissions filter to display only those registry keys, which have the changed permissions.

    2. Select Edit from the context menu of a key, permissions of which you need to edit.

    3. Go to the Permissions tab.

    4. Untick the Enable permission changes checkbox and click Save.
