[MSI] Export (extract) fileΒΆ
Export (extract) the selected file from the compressed internal/external CAB of the package to the specified folder. To export all files of the package, see [MSI] Export (extract) all files.
The export file function can be useful when you need to get and modify the compressed file of the MSI package. To replace the existing file in the package with the new one, see [MSI] Replace file.
Warning
Only files that are stored in the File
table can be extracted.
Important
Precondition: Open an MSI package in MSI Editor (see Open MSI/MST).
- Go to the Package Designer > Files and folders tab.
- Select Export file from the context menu of a file that you need to export (extract).

Note that the selected file must be located in the
File
table. Find the table name in the last column of the files and folders tree. - Choose a destination location where to save the file and click Save.
- Find the exported file in the previously selected folder.
